Species New Help Information

This Help information is stored in the file NewSpecies.htm in the subdirectory - \Program Files\DataPoint\Help.  This file can be copied to, and viewed or modified on, the desktop computer.  If viewed on the PDA, it may be easier to view some sections with word wrap (i.e., View>Fit-to-Screen) turned off.

The Species New Screen is used to add a new species to the master species lookup file.  A species has to be added to the master list before it can be added to the list of species on the Main Screen.

1.        The Code number for the species is predetermined and can not be edited.

2.        Tap in the Genus box and enter the Genus.  This box is mandatory.

3.        Tap in the Species box and enter the Species.  This box is mandatory

4.        Tap the Subcat box and enter the subcategory such as subsp., var. This box is optional

5.        Tap in the Sub Species box and enter the subspecies.  This box is optional

6.        Use the drop-down box for growth form and enter the Growth Form.  This will default to Bare Ground unless a different Growth Form is selected.

7.        Tap OK

You will be returned to the Main screen and the species will have been added to the Main Screen list as well as the master lookup list.

You can not edit or remove a species from the list once it has been added.  But the master lookup list can be edited externally after it has been exported as a .CSV file.  After editing externally (for example in EXCEL), it can then be reimported.
