How to install new version if you have
already installed an older version -
1. Export all of your project/area data as .csv files or
even better, backup the DataPoint.sdf file. From the Project
Screen cycle through each project/area and tap Project>Export.
Remember to change the default file name for each area in
the project if you have a version of DataPoint prior to 1.0.60807.
Remember where
you saved the .csv files or the .sdf file.
2. Export all of your species files (not necessary if you
backup the .sdf file). You will need to load a project that
is using the species file, then tap Species>Export Species Table. Remember
where you saved the .csv file.
3. Copy the attached file (DataPoint.ARM.CAB) to any location on the PDA,
then double tap the file name. Select Yes to All when it warns you that
files will be overwritten. This will overwrite the database so that is why
you had to backup your data and species files.
4. If you backed up the DataPoint.sdf file, copy it back
to the \Program Files\Datapoint\Data subdirectory, otherwise run DataPoint and then import the veg data (Project>Import) and the
species file (Species>Import Species Table).
Revision History - V. 1.1.802 - August 21, 2007 1-A new species can now be added to the species list with an automatic 0.1 value. This speeds up adding additional species to a sample list. The 0.1 value is used to indicated that a species was present but at low cover/density. 1-A bug that dropped values after repeating the File>Save numerous times was fixed. V. 1.0.60807 - August 12, 2006 1-Data can now be exported either as a Project (with all associated Areas and Samples) or as an Area (with all associated Samples). Previous versions would only export one area at a time and the default file name for all areas was the same even though it could easily be changed. This could result in overwriting the export .CSV file of one area with another area. The default file name (the file name entered on the Project screen)is now used for the export of Project data, but when an area is exported, the default file name is followed by a hyphen and the area name. For example, if the default file name entered on the Project screen was "Project1" then project data are exported to the file "Project1.CSV". If the Area data are exported and the area name was "Area2", the default exported file name would be "Project1-Area2.CSV". 2-It was possible to bypassing the entry of an area name which could result in samples with the same name in the last area that was opened. You must now enter an unique area name before you can enter sample data.
V. 1.0.60730 - August 1, 2006 1- The Dn I + Up I hits now totals only whole numbers - The tally of the Down I hit still adds whole numbers and the decimal fractions such as 0.1 that are entered to represent species that are present but not hit. This helps prevent the error of using a 1.0 to represent a species that is present but not hit. The Dn I+ Up I hts would show 101 (rather than 100) if the 1 rather than .1 were entered as present but not hit.
2- Project>Edit on the Main screen will now take you to the Project Screen and allow immediate editing rather than requiring you to tap Project>Edit Current Sample before changes to the project screen would actually be made and potentially saved.
3- The date on the project screen is now executed with a date picker calendar.
4- A potential loss of data could occur due to accidentally taping File>Save-and-Start-New-Sample rather than File>Save on the Main Screen. If you tried to just tap Cancel from the Project Screen you would be taken back to the Main screen but all of the species data would = 0. Tapping Cancel will now take you directly back to the original sample with all of the original data.
5-With an imported data file, double tapping a cell on the Main Screen would make the data invisible because there were 10 characters and the cursor would be right justified with the cell contents not visible on the left. Using the keyboard and the left arrows you could get to the data but this was not efficient. This has been fixed.
6- The Comment Box on the Project Screen would only show one line of text at a time. It now shows two lines of text.
7- Trying to import a data file that was the wrong format would crash the program. A simple error message now appears and returns you to the program. |
