Note that recent updates include the 2014 NWPL species updates, and the lists allow lookup of accepted names, access to lists with synonyms and the associated accepted name, species common name lookup, hotlinks to the NWI classification system, and the complete COE manual on the Device without the need for internet connection.

The COE Manual links are not enabled in the Demo versions, but are enabled in the licensed version.

The Demo versions also only have the Caribbean Islands species list included.  You will receive the correct regional lists with the 2014 updates in the licensed version.

Additional improvements include faster load times for the vegetation strata screens.

Regions with the 2.2.03 (COE Version 2 with NWPL 2014 lists) have the most recent improvements.

Regionalized WETFORM for the PDA is available for each region and will run independently on Windows Mobile (WM) 5 and 6 devices as well as the older PPC2003SE devices.  This includes the WM5 & WM6 PDA's and touch screen phones.  Data are quickly and easily exchanged with Regional WetForm ACCESS Desktop using comma delimited files.

WetForm for PDA is linked to WetForm for ACCESS and is most useful when you have that product as well, since it will eliminate the need to re-enter data, and will allow you to produce reports with photos and maps quite easily.  The WetForm for ACCESS product is necessary to produce reports as either printed documents, or as Adobe .pdf files.  However, just having a "wetland delineation calculator" loaded on your mobile phone or PDA or Windows based GPS unit will allow you to fill in the paper forms a lot faster since all of the species lookup, dominance, prevalence, FAC-neutral and final determination logic is automated.

Download demo versions of WetForm PDA for your Region to see what the program looks like on your device and test some of the functionality.  The demo will only allow you to make one record, and the species list that is loaded is for the Caribbean rather than the selected region.  You will, however, get to see the automated lookup of species indicator status, and the automated calculation of Dominance, Prevalence and FAC-neutral tests as well as the automated logic for wetland determination.  Once you purchase a license, the demo will be fully functional.

The program can be ported to almost all Windows Mobile devices so if one of these doesn't work for your device, just contact me and I will make a version for your device.

Regional WETFORM PDA Screen shots:

These are the initial splash screens during the program loading.

The total time to load will vary from 30 to 90 seconds depending on processor speed.  The first screen that opens for data collection is called the Project screen. When the program opens, the keyboard is activated and the cursor is in the Plot ID control.

The Proj command button at the bottom of the screen will allow you to add, delete or clone records.  When you clone a record it creates a new record and duplicates all of the items on the project screen to reduce the need to reenter data.

There is also a GPS command (see below) that will allow you to capture the latitude and longitude data from a GPS device and insert it on the Project screen as well as the first photo.  The Photo command will take you to a screen where you can enter comments regarding up to six photos and a map.

The export/import csv command will allow you to backup data and send it to the WetForm Desktop where it is imported using the DataTools buttons.

The full project screen can be accessed even with the keyboard activated, by using the scroll bar on the right.

The vegetation data are entered by strata (see below for an example of the herb stratum).  The entire species list can be edited, including the addition of new species.  The species list can also be exported/imported from WetForm Desktop, so species lists from different FWS regions can be used.

The Hyd button will take you to the Hydrology check boxes and comments.  The Soil button will take you to either the soil checkboxes or the soil horizons (see below).  The Det button will take you to the determination screen (see below).  The View button will allow you to navigate the entire database, as well as sort for viewing based on a set of factors.

The help button will provide assistance for the basic delineation topics, including setting up a GPS.

Capturing GPS data is easy using the Proj>GPS command and will allow capture of data in either DMS (degrees, minutes, seconds) or DD (degrees, decimal degrees) format.

Here is an example of entering vegetation data in the herb strata.  Clicking the box with the question mark will take you to a lookup screen that will allow you to select a species.

Once you select a species, the indicator status is automatically filled in.  After you enter a cover/dominance value, the relative dominance is calculated and the dominants are automatically selected based on the 50-20 rule.  The species can be selected either by scrolling down the list, or a few letters can be entered, then tapping the search button will filter the list for you.

All of the dominance and prevalence calculations are automated and visible, so if you want to collect your data on paper and just use WetForm PDA as a calculator, you can easily transfer the information to the paper forms.  The FAC-neutral calculation is also automated, so if you go to the Hydrology screen and scroll down you can see that it has been checked or unchecked based on the species data.

Note that FAC-neutral calculation is automated in the Hydrology screen.  The Soils check boxes are extensive and include the subregion criteria.  Note that the final determination is also automated based on selections.

The soil horizon screen is facilitated with convenient drop down boxes, and the logic from all of the delineation factors is automated with results shown on the Determination screen.

The DataTools Tab on WetForm Desktop allows easy import and export of sample data and species lists.

WETFORM'87 for the PDA has the entire COE 1987 Routine Wetland Delineation Form on the PDA.  The form is a database template that runs in the SprintDB database software that must be purchased separately for about $33 at http://www.kaione.com/Online_Store/online_store.html

Data entry is facilitated with drop-down boxes and lookup files for species.  The species look-up also  automatically fills in  stratum and the Wetland Indicator status.   The Program is provided with species list for all regions.  After the species and percent dominance are entered, a button tap will calculate species dominance to determine the wetland status of the vegetation.  The wetland status of vegetation, hydrology, and soils is automatically determined and transferred to the determination tab.

Selecting the Buy Now option will take you to a secure site that handles sales through PayPal but allows payment through all credit cards as well.

The Form includes abundant help information including graphic display of percentages.   Note: the color book used for soils is NOT included.
